Nine genes were selected from the top ranked ROS-diabetes targets: superoxide dismutase 1 (Sod1), catalase (Cat), xanthine dehydrogenase (Xdh), protein kinase C alpha (Prkca), neutrophil cytosolic factor 1 (Ncf1), nitric oxide synthase 3 (Nos3), superoxide dismutase 2 (Sod2), cytochrome b-245 alpha (Cyba), and nitric oxide synthase 1 (Nos1). Here, SOD1 is linked to diabetes mellitus.
