To ascertain the therapeutic potential of C5a vaccination at the effector phase of autoimmune diseases, we used CAIA model using a cocktail of IgG2b mAbs binding to 3 dominant B cell epitopes of CII and the C5a vaccinated animals had less frequent and reduced arthritis severity compared to control vaccinated animals (Fig. 3A and B). This evidence concerns the gene C5 and autoimmune disease.
