Interestingly, in HL patients, also peripheral T lymphocytes have been shown to display an atypical profile of cytokine production, characterized by reduced intracellular IL-2, TNF-alpha, and IFN-gamma and increased cytoplasmic IL-4 production, being the CD3+CD8+ subpopulation specifically responsible for the increased levels of IL-4 [20, 21]. The gene discussed is IL4; the disease is Hodgkins lymphoma.
