After adjustment of paraoxonase activity and lipid profile for confounder factors, we noted a significant association between bipolar disorder and low paraoxonase activity (P < 0.0001), low ApoA1 values (P < 0.0001), hypercholesterolaemia (P < 0.0001), high c-LDL values (P < 0.0001), high ApoB/ApoA1 ratio (P < 0.0001) and high Lp(a) values (P < 0.0001), but no significant association was observed with ApoB (P = 0.07) values (Table 3). This evidence concerns the gene APOA1 and bipolar disorder.
