Histologically, BRCA1-related breast cancers are predominantly of the basal subtype, with predominant lymphocytic infiltration, and are often more aggressive and associated with negative prognostic factors, as characterised by numerous mitoses, pleomorphic pattern, poor differentiation and higher proliferation rates [7-11], as well as a negative oestrogen and progesterone receptors status [8,10,12]. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
