Finkelstein et al (1993) established a correlation between G12D mutation and haematogenous metastasis at the time of diagnosis. In the same study, G12V and G13D were found to have no impact on survival. In contrast, prognostic significance for KRAS codon 13 mutations has been reported in CRC (Pajkos et al, 2000; Samowitz et al, 2000; Bazan et al, 2002). The RASCAL II study demonstrated a significant influence on survival of only one mutation, G12V, especially in Dukes C patients (Andreyev et al, 1998, 2001). The gene discussed is KRAS; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
