In humans, mutations in c-KIT have been reported in more than 65% of GIST cases [8,20,23,24], and in GISTs with wild-type c-KIT, mutations of platelet-derived growth factor receptor, alpha polypeptide (PDGFRA) were found in 35% of those cases [25]. This evidence concerns the gene PDGFRA and gastrointestinal stromal tumor.
