IFNAR2 and chronic hepatitis C virus infection: A number of clinical studies including the recent HALT-C trial suggest that impaired expression of IFNAR1 is correlated with the response to IFN-α therapy in chronic hepatitis C. Taniguchi et al [33] indicated that high intrahepatic mRNA levels of IFNAR1 and the ratio of IFNAR1 to IFNAR2 were significantly higher in patients having a sustained virological response to interferon therapy.
