Thus, the present study may provide the ‘missing link’ of a kinase signaling cascade LRRK2→TAOK/MARKK→MARK→Tau that may partially explain enhanced Tau phosphorylation and axonal pathology in brains from LRRK2 overexpressing mice and human PD patients carrying a gain-of-function LRRK2(G2019S) mutation [4], [7], [9].
