In one study regarding the role of factor V Leiden mutation and ischemic stroke subtypes, it was proven that it is statistically significant more frequently in patients with large infarctions (13.6%; p < 0.025; OR 2.25, CI 1.16–4.34) than in those without stroke (6.5%), therefore this mutation may predispose the person to large cerebral infarction. This evidence concerns the gene F5 and Stroke.
