This general pattern, with AST increasing more quickly and peaking at a higher level and then reverting to normal sooner than ALT levels, is unusual and differs from that commonly seen during acute hepatitis caused by hepatitis viruses,26 but is similar to observations in studies of dengue in children and adults.14–16 In addition, the effect of chronic HBV co-infection was primarily apparent on ALT levels. The gene discussed is GPT; the disease is dengue disease.
