Consistent with our previous experiments [12], ATRX (red) was found associated with bright DAPI stained heterochromatin foci as well as with the peri-nucleolar heterochromatin rim in control pre-ovulatory oocytes at the germinal vesicle stage where it partially co-localized with kinetochores detected by CREST (calcynosis Raynaud's phenomenon esophageal dismotility, sclerodactyly and telangiectasia) (Figure 1A and 1B). The gene discussed is ATRX; the disease is telangiectasis.
