DNASE1 and nephritis: The samples obtained from nephritic B/W mice clearly separated into two distinct groups: those with mild nephritis and immune complex deposits confined to the mesangial matrix demonstrated normal levels of Dnase1 mRNA and Dnase1 enzyme activity (Figure 1C and D, lanes 7–9), whereas mice with severe nephritis and IC deposits within the capillary membrane showed dramatically reduced Dnase1 mRNA and enzyme activity (Figure 1C and D, lanes 10–12).
