PLAT and cardiovascular disorder: Vascular fibrinolytic balance is maintained primarily by an interplay of t-PA and PAI-1 [1] and polymorphisms in genes from the RA, bradykinin, and fibrinolytic systems may affect plasma concentrations of both t-PA and PAI-1 through a set of gene-gene interactions [10], [11], suggesting a potential involvement of these systems in determining the risk of cardiovascular disease.
