To test whether the in vitro correlation of TXNIP induction with lactic acidosis pathway activity persists in vivo, we compared the predicted lactic acidosis pathway activity with the TXNIP expression levels in the breast cancer data sets and found a positive correlation in all four data sets; although the relationship is of limited predictive value with low R values reflecting a noisy relationship, the positive relationship is statistically significant and consistent across tumor data sets (Figure 6B).
