This polymorphism had been associated earlier by the same group [14] in the maternal genome of preeclamptic women, while no association had been found in either preeclampsia, eclampsia or HELLP syndrome in the maternal genome of a different ethnic group for a polymorphism of two closely related cytosolic soluble glutathione S-transferase genes of the mu (M) and theta (T) families [44]. This evidence concerns the gene HPGDS and HELLP syndrome.
