In addition to its pro-nociceptive and pro-inflammatory effects, increasing evidence shows that the B2R is nephro- and cardioprotective [60], [61], [62], [63], [64], [65], partly due to nitric oxide (NO) release, and could contribute to the benefit of angiotensin 1-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors in models of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases [5], [60], [66], [67].
