SOX2 and cancer: Moreover, when the cancer samples were grouped according to their histological subtypes, we observed a trend of more frequent SOX2 promoter hypermethylation in type II (serous and clear cell subtypes) (8/14, 57.1%) than in type I cancers (endometrial subtype) (16/48, 33.3%) though statistical significance was not reached (P = .108; Table 4).
