Loss of AP-2α in metastatic melanoma is directly linked to overexpression of melanoma cell adhesion molecule MCAM/MUC18, protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR-1), matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), and loss of tyrosine-kinase receptor c-KIT [10], [11], [12], [14], [15], [20]. This evidence concerns the gene F2R and metastatic melanoma.
