CD4 and anemia (phenotype): Risk factors for anemia such as low CD4+ cell count (<200), race (afro-american), oral candidiasis and bacterial pneumonia, were described by Semba el al., and Marieke et al., however we included patients without co-infection or opportunistic diseases, which is why we only found a low CD4+ cell count as a risk factor for anemia in our patients [12-15].
