The potential involvement of various protein kinases was determined and data indicate that gemcitabine treatment in cells lacking CK2α specifically leads to JNK phosphorylation suggesting that the JNK pathway, whose role in cell death is well established [30,31], might contribute to cell killing in pancreatic cancer cells through a cross-talk with CK2α.
