OGG1 and gastritis: The limited inflammatory response induced by various inflammatory stimuli (LPS-induced endotoxic shock, streptozotocin-induced Type I diabetes, oxazolone-induced contact hypersensitivity and Helicobacter pylori-induced gastritis) in mice in which Ogg1, the DNA glycosylase involved in the removal of 8-oxoG [28], is inactive is also consistent with the involvement of oxidized DNA guanine in inflammation [29], [30].
