Indeed, the BMP pathway may be involved in modulating the effect of Msx2 expression in breast cancer: analysis of BMP4 expression in 295 tumours from a transcriptomic dataset revealed that Msx2 is associated with high levels of BMP4 in breast tumours, and BMP4 itself was associated with improved patient outcome within this dataset.
