Indeed class II isoforms of NRG1 have also found to be expressed in Schwann cell derived tumours [32], [34] and in a transgenic mouse model, expression of a class II isoform in Schwann cells led to mice developing hyperplasia with 60% progressing to develop tumours that resembled human malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumours [35].
