Another group reported an insertion/deletion polymorphism, NM_001099667.1: c.* 372_815del443ins54 in 3′-UTR of ARMS2, which is strongly associated with AMD; this variant deletes the polyadenylation signal and inserts a 54-bp AU-rich element, resulting in an unstable ARMS2 transcript (Figure 1A) [25]. This evidence concerns the gene ARMS2 and age-related macular degeneration.
