No significant differences in CVD or CHD risk were observed in MSM compared with male heterosexuals, despite significant differences in age (40 vs. 42 years; p < 0.001), smoking (50% vs. 37%; p < 0.001) and prevalence of drug-treated hypertension (5% vs. 11%; p = 0.003) and higher viral loads (2.66 vs. 2.33; p < 0.001) and CD4 counts (434 vs. 381; p < 0.001). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and hypertensive disorder.
