In our study, patients having AIDS associated symptoms like chronic diarrhoea, chronic fever, unexplained weight loss, oral ulcers, etc and AIDS defining illnesses like pulmonary and extra-pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB), STDs, Bacterial diarrhoea, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, along with patients having less than 200 CD4 T cells/uL of blood at the time of first CD4 T cell count, were classified as late presenters to care. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is pneumocystosis.
