Overexpression of Cyclin D1 has been suggested to contribute to oncogenesis by disturbing the cell cycle, and has been reported to be an important oncogenic factor in esophageal carcinoma [31], and associated with nuclear accumulation of β-catenin in ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinomas [32]; nuclear Cyclin D1 overexpression in gallbladder carcinomas is a critical event [33]. The gene discussed is CCND1; the disease is ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma.
