In a recent study, we noted that elevated levels of AID expression were seen in those HIV+ subjects who went on to develop NHL, with the highest levels seen in those who developed Burkitt's lymphoma [17], a form of B cell NHL that is characterized by the MYC:Ig chromosomal translocation, a result of AID activity [35], [36]. The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
