CYBB and infection: Accordingly, we identified the remarkable upregulation of cytochrome b245 heavy chain (GP91-PHOX) (Figure 6J), a critical component of the membrane-bound oxidase of phagocytes (macrophages and neutrophils), after infection with N-PRRSV, that generated superoxide radicals that killed both infected and normal cells at sites of infection, which would further exacerbate the immunopathological response.
