As shown in Table 2, lower serum albumin level, ex- and current smoker, a history of congestive heart failure and COPD, and the use of atypical antipsychotic drugs (adjusted OR = 2.26, 95% CI = 1.23 - 4.15), inhaled corticosteroids (adjusted OR = 2.89, 95% CI = 1.56 - 5.35), and prescribed antibiotic(s) prior to admission (adjusted OR = 1.81, 95% CI = 1.09 - 3.02) was significantly associated with an increased risk for CAP after adjusting for the potential confounders as listed in the table 2.
