Indeed, the ROR2 extracellular ligand WNT5A, which inhibits the canonical Wnt signalling pathway in certain molecular contexts [8], is also aberrantly repressed by promoter hypermethylation in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia [19] and in colon cancer [20], and its absence is tumourigenic in these tumour types.
