AKT1 and colonic neoplasm: PGE2 has been shown to activate the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway,(34) stimulate the growth and survival of colon cancer cells through crosstalk with the β-catenin pathway,(35,36) and activate β-catenin signaling in MLO-Y4 osteocyte-like cells.(24,25) In addition, this pathway is activated in response to FFSS in MLO-Y4 osteocyte-like cells.(24,25) Therefore, we sought to determine if PI3K also might be involved in the protective effects of PGE2 against dexamethasone-induced apoptosis.
