We showed that re-expression of WIF1 in PC3 cells changed cell morphology from spindle-shaped to a cobblestone-like monolayer, increased expression of epithelial markers (i.e. E-Cadherin and Keratin-8 and -18) and decreased expression of mesenchymal markers (i.e. N-cadherin and Vimentin) both in vitro cell cultures and in in vivo tumor tissues. The gene discussed is VIM; the disease is neoplasm.
