INA and Parkinson disease: Of potential relevance to our findings, it is well established that abnormal accumulation or mislocation of neurofilaments is a pathological hallmark of many human neurodegenerative disorders including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, dementia with Lewy bodies, and Parkinson disease.More specifically, INA along with other NF proteins, are found to form pathological inclusions in a newly defined neuronal intermediate filament inclusion disease (NIFID), which presented as progressive early-onset dementia, pyramidal, and extrapyramidal dysfunctions [72], [80].
