In addition to the fact that amplification of HER-2 has become a valid biomarker to identify patients with breast cancer who respond to HER-2 protein targeting therapy, several recent clinical trials have found that HER-2-overexpressing breast cancers,10 with or without HER-2 amplification,11 are often responsive to anthracycline-based therapies.
