Intriguingly, on examination of the promoter of the IDE gene (NCBI accession no. NG_013012) we observed two sites with the sequence TGCAAAG at -756 and +240 bases relative to the transcription start site of IDE. This sequence is known to be a TCF binding site, and it is required for TCF7L2-mediated regulation of cyclin D1 transcription in human colon cancer cells [35]. The gene discussed is HNF4A; the disease is malignant colon neoplasm.
