The five proteins that met our criteria for an increase in relative abundance in the cancer compared to the control were haptoglobin (HAPT), orosomucoid-1 (ORM1), leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein-1 (LRG1), alpha-1 antichymotrypsin (AACT), and fibrinogen-alpha (FGA; Figure 1; Additional file 1, Table S1). The gene discussed is FGA; the disease is cancer.
