Interestingly, a recent quantitative proteomic analysis of ovarian tumor tissue using ICAT labeling examined the relative expression of tumor proteins in chemoresistant vs. chemosensitive tumors, and found that five of the proteins identified in this study [ECM1, LRG1, orosomucoid 1 (alpha-1-acid glycoprotein) and alpha-1-antitrypsin] were all overexpressed in chemoresistant tumors [34], strengthening their potential use as biomarkers. The gene discussed is ORM1; the disease is neoplasm.
