CD8A and viral infectious disease: Viral infection of FtDKO mice to induce inflammation and trigger viral-specific T cell expansion, demonstrated that while there was robust CD8 T cell expansion and viral clearance by day 8, Ag-specific effector and memory CD8 T cell populations were significantly reduced in the lungs of FtDKO mice, consistent with the described role of selectin ligands in T cell extravasation to inflamed organs (Figure 2 and data not shown).
