Due to the described roles of IL-10 in the literature, like suppression of CD8 function [37-40] and increase in B cell proliferation [41,42], as well as evidence from our laboratory showing the role of tumor associated macrophages in tumor growth, we decided to investigate if this cytokine is part of the immune evasion mechanism displayed by E6/E7 transformed cells. This evidence concerns the gene CD8A and neoplasm.
