In the well-known Wnt pathway -- the highly conserved canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway [27] -- the secreted glycoprotein Wnt interacts with Frizzled, a seven-transmembrane receptor that transduces its signal through the activation of Dishevelled, which in turn inactivates GSK-3β kinase that resides in a protein complex assembled by the scaffolding protein Axin and adenomatous polyposis coli gene (APC) product, a tumor suppressor. This evidence concerns the gene APC and neoplasm.
