INS and Impaired glucose tolerance: Results of the present study indicate that, compared with F0-C mice, F0-BPA10 mice had impaired glucose tolerance, slightly increased fasting plasma insulin levels (1.38 times higher than in controls), and reduced insulin sensitivity in skeletal muscle and liver (as evidenced by the inability of insulin to promote phosphorylation of Akt at Thr308 in these tissues) (Alessi et al. 1996).
