Focusing attention on this list, CsnK2a2, a casein kinase 2 and Lgals3, a galactin, have been linked to inflammatory conditions in the literature [7,8], while atf3 (activating transcription factor 3) and Btg1 (B-cell translocation gene 1, anti-proliferative) are stress-related genes; both inflammation and stress are triggered by obesity and diabetes. This evidence concerns the gene BTG1 and diabetes mellitus.
