Although genetic studies linked mutations in the homologous human gene (SLC26A3) to congenital chloride-losing diarrhea, it is interesting to note that Slc26a3 is also known with the alias "down-regulated in adenoma" (Dra), since it was first identified as a gene strongly down-regulated in colon adenomas and adenocarcinomas [47,48]. Here, SLC26A3 is linked to adenocarcinoma.
