Many of the differentially expressed genes are implicated in tumorigenesis, and 5 of the upregulated genes are involved in the WNT pathway (e.g. Fst, Lgr5, Sfrp1, Sfrp2, and Wisp2, Additional File 1: Table S1), which is dysregulated in a variety of cancers [21].
