Mutations in both alleles of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene result in the disease cystic fibrosis (CF), which manifests classically as chronic sinopulmonary disease, pancreatic insufficiency, elevated sodium chloride loss in sweat, infertility among men is due to agenesis of the vas deferens and other symptoms like liver disease. Here, CFTR is linked to exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.
