The induction of MT2A, depending on HIPK2 knockdown has been reported to be responsible for p53 misfolding and inhibition of p53 transcriptional activity [16]; therefore, the present data suggest that HIPK2 deregulation in HEK-APP cells and fibroblasts from AD patients might be involved in p53 misfolding, most likely through MT2A upregulation. This evidence concerns the gene APP and Alzheimer disease.
