Colesevelam is currently recommended for the treatment of T2DM in combination with antidiabetes therapies such as metformin, sulfonylurea and insulin, and has been added to the treatment roadmap developed by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists [48], and to the clinical guideline for pharmacological management of T2DM developed by the Joslin Diabetes Center and Joslin Clinic [49].
