The safety and tolerability of sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, were found to be generally comparable to non-sitagliptin treatments in a pooled analysis of 12 double-blind, randomized, controlled studies comprising data on 6,139 patients with type 2 diabetes that was published in 2008 [1]. The gene discussed is DPP4; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
