So far, a small but increasing number of reports were documented regarding targeting a cellular metabolic enzyme for cancer therapy [54], thus the current study provided new insights for potential clinical treatment of HCC using siRNA-mediated suppression of PGAM1 expression since RNAi technology has emerged as a powerful tool to silence gene expression in mammalian cells so that it could be used to investigate the gene function [55]. This evidence concerns the gene PGAM1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
